Tips for Starting Character in Elder Scrolls Online

Tips for Starting Character in Elder Scrolls Online

Elder Scroll Online, and TES games in general, are known for their extremely permissive character development system. Practically any combo of skills, weapons and armors is allowed. A single player TES game with multiple difficulty options can be completed even if the character is not that strong but this is not true for multiplayer games like Elder Scroll Online. No one forbids players from experiencing the game as a heavy armored, shield and sword equipped Sorcerer who’s invested all points in health but no one wants such a character in their group when running end game content. Character creation and development can be a bit overwhelming for new TES players so here are a few guidelines on how to select a race and class.

The first thing players need to do is decide what role they wish to play so they can select a race that has the best perks for that particular role. Besides Imperials that can be part of any faction, the other nine Elder Scroll Online races are faction locked. Faction choice matters but doesn’t weight in that heavily on gameplay. Players that have in game friends are advised to choose the same faction as their buddies so they can easily interact, complete quests together and fight the opposing factions as a team. Different faction members are enemies in PvP. If faction choice doesn’t matter that much players can just select a race based on their class preference.

Dragonknights can be damage dealers or tanks. Races to be considered are Redguard, Orc, Imperial, Dark Elf, Wood Elf, Nord or Khajiit. These races have perks that increase stamina which is an important attribute for a tank. Perks also provide damage reduction or DPS increase.

Sorcerers can become DPS or healers. Breton, Dark Elf and High Elf are the best races for this class. Racial perks include magicka boosts, reduced spell cost and increased spell efficiency for various schools of magic. Damage Sorcerers are specialized in ranged magic damage.

Nightblades are damage dealers or healers. In opposition to Sorcerer, this class focuses on melee DPS. Redguard, Argonian, Khajiit and Wood Elf make a viable class/race combo. These races have perks that give better stamina recovery and stealth efficiency.

Templars can fulfill all three roles. Suggested Templar races are Breton, Orc, Imperial, Argonian, Nord and High Elf. Players should make a race selection depending on which role they wish to perform.

Besides the tips for eso game playing you should have, the eso gold you also need, which can help you to buy the better weapons and others.
