Maelstrom Arena is one of the features bundled in the Orsinium DLC. The arena is a single player activity. Players will take part in a challenge where they must survive nine encounters. Each encounter is a mini-arena with a unique theme and enemies. For example, in the Murkmire style arena players will fight against lamia while in the Wrothgar arena they will face ice giants. There is also an encounter set in the Mad God’s realm. Players are advised to look around them and identify the terrain items that can help them. There are different ways to gain an edge by using the environment. At the same time, they must also watch out for their surroundings because enemies are not the only ones that can damage them.
Sigils are an arena feature. A sigil grants a different buff. Players can choose a sigil to use before the start of each encounter. Sigils appear as blue icons. Players can simply interact with them to activate the buff. There are four sigils available. The defense sigil buffs the player with damage reduction and also reflects damage. The healing sigil gives a heal over time. The haste sigil speeds us resource regeneration and also allows players to use the major expedition buff. The power sigil boosts weapon power. Players that are Veteran rank 16 unlock the arena leaderboard. Their performance in the arena is recorded on the leaderboard. There are different leaderboards for each Elder Scrolls Online class. Top 100 weekly players get extra bonuses. Points are obtained by all players when they finish an encounter. Extra points are acquired if players don’t use any sigil. Those who complete all nine encounters in less than one hour and a half get more points. Maelstrom Arena unique item, weapon, and jewelry sets, Elder Scrolls Online gold are also among the rewards. Players can access the arena by traveling to its location. They can either walk there or use the fast travel system. The arena is in Orsinium in Wrothgar mountains.
