Professional NBA 2K18 players are competing in the first season of NBA 2K League. So far, the competition proved to be a successful event. There were some memorable performances and great shows. But what comes next should be most interesting to watch. A couple of changes were made to NBA 2K18 to make it’s more suitable for professional competitions. One of the most significant changes regards the archetypes. This update was needed to ensure one crucial aspect of competitive games: balance. All archetypes were revised. The distinction between their advantages and disadvantages is much more clear. Balance was one issue but the update adds more gameplay versatility as well.
There will be more valid strategies available now that the archetypes were changed. Here are the archetypes that got the most significant change. It won’t be that easy to achieve shots across the board for players who choose the pure rim protector archetype. Those who are playing rebounding athletic finisher might want to revise their strategy as shooting and finishing layups were decreased but rebounding was increased. The slashing post scorer has better mid range and post offense. Pure sharpshooter is one archetype that had some attributes decreased. These are playmaking, dunking, shooting, and layup. Nothing but good news for slashing playmakers. This archetype received increases in acceleration, shooting, and layups. Sharpshooting playmaker players get some attributes increased but also some decreased. Mid range will be better at the expense of athleticism. The archetypes aren’t the only thing that was changed by the League Patch. Free throws received some attention as well. This change was needed for archetypes that are not particularly good at free throws.
