This year marks the first season of the PUBG Global Invitational. The tournament is organized by the game officials and has a most generous prize pool of two million dollars. Twenty of the world’s best PUBG teams will take part in this competition. Being one of the competing teams is a big accomplishment as well. It takes more than signing up to be among those who battle for the big prize. Qualifying stages will be held to decide who goes further.
The first qualifying tournament will determine who will represent North America at the Global Invitational. The prize pool for this tournament is $150,000. There are only three spots open and the competition is more than fierce as 320 teams want to be one of those three. Teams from the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada will compete in the various qualifier rounds. The first thing that has to be done is to sign up. Each team must have at least two members from one of the above regions. All members have to be 18 years old. The next phase consists of three rounds of online games. In the first round, all 320 teams will compete. Only half of them make it to round two. Eighty teams compete in round three but only twenty of them make it to the finals. Fans have the chance to watch round three games on Twitch and YouTube. The teams that make it past round three get prizes. The first team gets $32,000, second place gets $24,000, and third place gets $18,000. All twenty of them get a monetary compensation for making it so far in the qualifying stage.
The next phase is held in Burbank, California. This is the Qualifier Finals. It lasts for three days and consists of 12 matches. This is the last phase that will single out three teams that get to go to the big tournament. The PUBG Global Invitational will take place in Berlin.
